In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

On a bright Summer afternoon in July 2015, a group of 10 men and 3 women got together in the house of one of them (Dr. Abdul Baith Olaogun House-May Allah reward him abundantly) to organize what they called the “first organizing committee” of the “Nigerian Muslim Society of Regina”. This group of immigrants of Nigerian background were concerned about the absence of a place of organized worship for Muslims of Nigerian Heritage.

Words quickly spread to other Nigerian Muslims in Saskatchewan, of this amazing event, and more people immediately started showing interest in becoming part of this God-seeking society. The next meeting witnessed 15 attendees, 20 attended the following month, and the figure has been growing ever since. Thus, the Nigerian Muslim Society of Regina (NMSR) was born which became Saskatchewan’s largest concentration of Muslims of Nigerian birth, ancestry, or heritage.

In the initial stages, meetings were held in shifts at individual members’ apartments or houses,  then the City of Regina library on Albert Street, from where activities moved to the Anatolian Center (Turkish Community Center). By the grace of ALLAH, Plans are now ongoing to purchase our own property that will accommodate our ever-growing membership, children, and youths who run into hundreds.
